Our promoters have a combined expertise of more than four decades. ‘Polycab Wires Private Limited’ was the name under which our company was registered on January 10, 1996, in Mumbai by way of a private limited company following the Companies Act of 1956

Power cables, control cables, instrumentation cables, solar cables, building wires, flexible cables, flexible/single multi-core cables, communication cables, and others like welding cables, submersible flat and round cables, rubber cables, overhead conductors, railway signaling cables, specialty cables, and green wires are among our main products in the wires and cables segment. We produce and market a wide range of cables and wires. The planning, development, procurement, implementation, and commissioning of power distribution and rural electrification projects are all part of the “EPC” industry, which we entered in 2009. Conduits, accessories, switchgear, and switches are some of our most crucial FMEG products. We diversified into the FMEG sector in 2014.

POLYCAB’S HISTORY

‘Sind Electric Stores’ was founded in 1964 by the late Thakurdas Jaisinghani and sold various electrical goods, including switches, wires, fans, and lighting. The late Thakurdas Jaisinghani’s sons Girdhari T Jaisinghani, Inder T. Jaisinghani, Ajay T Jaisinghani, and Ramesh T. Jaisinghani then took over management of the family firm in 1968. Under the Indian Partnership Act of 1932, the family established a partnership business named “Thakur Industries.”

To build a facility to produce cables and wires, the partners of “Thakur Industries” subsequently entered into a leasing arrangement with MIDC in 1975 about a plot of land in Andheri, Mumbai. This factory remained in operation until 1984.

In 1983, the Directorate of Industries, Government of Gujarat, registered “Polycab Industries,” a partnership company founded by Girdhari T Jaisinghani, Inder T Jaisinghani, Ajay T Jaisinghani, and Ramesh T Jaisinghani, as a small-scale industrial unit with a factory located at Halol for the manufacturing/processing activity of “PVC insulated wires and cables, copper and aluminum, and bare copper wire.”

Chart Starline: Feel like you’re there, together

People enjoy getting together to interact, share, and work together. Being together has never felt more crucial than it does now, given the limited travel and increased remote work over the previous year.

We have created items over the years to foster a sense of community among consumers. With Gmail, we’ve made email simpler. Google Photos has made it simpler to share what is essential, and Google Meet has made it easier to be more productive. While improvements in these and other communication tools have been made, they are still far from sitting down and having a face-to-face conversation.

It struck us as a significant and unresolved issue. We questioned whether it was possible to simulate being with someone through technology as if they were physically present.

We’ve been working on Starline, a technology initiative combining hardware and software advancements, to address this problem. It enables friends, families, and employees to feel connected even when they are located in different cities (or nations).

Imagine peering through a mysterious window and seeing a life-size, three-dimensional image of another person. You have natural speech patterns, eye contact, and gestures.

Utilizations

We are utilizing studies in real-time compression, spatial audio, machine learning, and computer vision to make this experience possible. We’ve also created a ground-breaking light field display technology that gives users a sense of depth and volume without using extra goggles or headsets.

The result is the impression that someone is seated just across from you.

One of our greatest strengths is that once you sit down and begin conversing, the technology disappears into the background, allowing you to concentrate on what matters most: the person in front of you.

Only a few of our locations presently offer Project Starline, supported by specialized gear explicitly created for it. We think that this is the direction that technology for person-to-person communication should and should take. Over time, we want to lower the cost and increase the accessibility of this technology. Including incorporating some of these developments into our line of communication devices.

To begin that trip, we tested Project Starline for thousands of hours at Google, connecting coworkers between the Bay Area, New York, and Seattle. To gain early input on the technology and its uses, we have also been doing demos with a small group of enterprise partners in industries including media and healthcare. Later this year, we’re contemplating trial deployments with business partners.

With Project Starline, we’re making great strides, and the technology has the potential to address a significant issue—the desire to be with someone even when it’s physically impossible. Later this year, we want to share more with you.
